Gunmen Murder Brother of Slain Nigerian Militant

The brother of the slain leader of Nigerian militant group Boko Haram in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri has been killed by gunmen, a spokesman for the military said Monday.

Babakura Fugu died Saturday, two days a visit from former president Olusegun Obasanjo, said Lt. Col. Hassan Mohammed, spokesman for the Joint Task Force.

Military officials do not know who killed Fugu, according to Hassan.

Fugu was the brother of the former leader Mohammed Yusuf, who was in killed while in custody after widespread clashes between the military and Boko Haram in 2009.
